About me…
Leaving the fast-paced rhythm of urban life and returning to her hometown of Wakefield, Quebec shifted Wendy’s artistic focus. Originally known for portraiture, Wendy’s photographs have a way of revealing what lies behind the eyes—quiet truths that often surprise her subjects by reflecting an authentic self they already recognize.
In recent years, her attention has broadened to include nature and landscape. This shift culminated in an exhibition titled Patterns & Pareidolia, a body of work built around the Gatineau River across seasons. Over the course of more than a year she photographed the river in its many moods, gradually collecting images that, when viewed together, evoke faces, figures, and familiar forms emerging from patterns in water, stone, ice, and foliage. Wendy didn’t set out to make pareidolic images; it wasn’t until one photograph stood out that she realized a recurring visual theme had been forming. The realization reframed the series, inviting viewers to look for the unexpected human echoes hidden in the natural world and to consider how perception and place shape the stories we find in landscape.
Wendy lives with her dog, Frank, and her cat, George, in the house she always knew she’d live in one day.
